About Therapy
Finding the right therapist can be a difficult process. It’s important to find the right “match,” both in terms of style and specialization. Dr. Allen aims to create a comfortable, authentic treatment space. Her primary treatment approach is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This is a collaborative therapy where unhelpful thoughts, and their contributions to feelings and behaviors, are explored and challenged. CBT is a treatment shown to be effective with a variety of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, worry, sleep problems, stress management and PTSD. Although she specializes in CBT, Dr. Allen draws from other treatment approaches as well, and will tailor therapy to best meet your needs and goals.
Therapy can be helpful in treating a range of other issues. Sometimes people feel that their problems are aren’t big enough to seek therapy, but small, chronic issues can have a significant impact on how you experience and function in the world. Psychotherapy can be especially helpful in addressing these types of patterns.
Services
Dr. Allen provides individual psychotherapy for adults. Most sessions are scheduled weekly for 50 minutes each, but treatment focus, duration, and frequency of sessions are all determined based on the specific needs of the client. For ease of scheduling, flexible hours are offered to accommodate patients. While insurance is not accepted, Dr. Allen is an out of network provider for most major carriers, and can help you submit claims for reimbursement. Please call or email to discuss fees in more detail.
